The Wife's Responsibilities... |
(The Husband's Rights) |
Abu Umamah reported from the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.S.) who said: "Next to fear of Allah the believer finds nothing good for him than a virtuous wife. If he bids her, she obeys him; if he looks at her she gives him pleasure; if he gives her a trust, she fulfils it; and if he is absent from her, she guards herself and his property.
*The responsibilities of the wife are as follows:-
1) The wife must be attentive to the comfort
and well-being of her mate.
2) She should not offend him or hurt his
feelings.
3) She must be faithful, trustworthy and
honest.
4) She
should take good care of the children, including nursing them. She is
responsible for bringing up and training the children. She must teach them
good manners. Her role in the character-building of her children is very
important.
5) She may not lend her husband's belongings
without his consent.
6) She should not entertain anyone her
husband disapproves of, especially males and she should not accept their
gifts without her husband's approval.
7) If entrusted with any fund of her husband,
she must discharge her duty wisely and thriftily.
8) She must not deceive her husband by
deliberately avoiding conception, thus depriving him of legitimate
offspring.
9) She should discharge her role in marriage:
as companion and mate.
10) She must obey her husband except if asked
to renounce belief in Allah, or to commit some sort of sinful act.
