(The Wife's Rights) |
"Oh Mankind! reverence your Guardian Lord, who created you from a single person, created of like nature, his mate, and from them twin scattered, like seeds, countless men and women; reverence Allah, through whom you demand your mutual rights, and reverence the wombs that bore you." [Al Qur'an 4:1]
*The responsibilities of the wife are as follows:-

1) The wife has the right to food, clothing,
shelter and general care in health and in sickness.

2) She has the right to receive a dowry on
marriage.
|
|
3) She has the right to owning property and
disposing of it independently.
|
|
4)She has the right of inheritance.
|
|
5) She has the right to keep her earnings.
|
|
6) She has the rights to be treated with
equity, respect, kindness and consideration.
|
|
7) She has the right to request a divorce if
her husband has no love or sympathy for her.
|
|
8) She is under no legal obligation to do any
of the housework: however it is normal to do what is routine and it helps
the marriage.
|
|
9) She should not be forced to manage the
household: she may do it willingly.
|
|
10) Her basic human rights are similar to
men's rights (i.e. the right to general care and safety, life, legitimacy, education, etc.).
