Is shaking hands with the opposite sex permissible?

1) "If I don't shake hands with the opposite sex, people will be offended!"
2) "It is common courtesy to shake hands with a person, no matter their sex!"
3) "A person of the opposite sex will not get turned on if I shake their hand..."
4) "In today's world their is nothing intimate about shaking hands and hugging the opposite sex...It is the norm..."

Excuses...excuses...and guess what? More Excuses!

So here we have it...a million excuses in support of shaking hands, and no one seems to care what our Rasool(saw) had to say about it. First of all, if you take a take a flip through the Qur'an you would find the following verse:- (The Words of The Almighty Allah)

"What Allah's Messenger brings for you accept that and what he has forbidden you to refrain from that."

[59:7]

Good, now that that has been settled, and we all hopefully have no intention of disobeying the Creator, we must now go to Sahih Ahadith and find out what was said and done about this particular issue by our beloved Prophet Muhammad(saw):-

(1) The Prophet (saws) said: “That a man get struck with an iron needle in his head is better for him than that he touches a woman that is not permissible for him (to touch).” [Reported by At-Tabaraanee, Al-Bayhaqee and others and Imaam Al-Albaanee authenticated it in Silsilat As-Saheehah (1/447-448)]
(2) The Prophet (saws) said: “Indeed, I do not touch the hands of women.” [At-Tabaraanee in Al-Mu’jam-ul-Kabeer (24/342) and authenticated in Saheeh Al-Jaami’ (no. 8054)]
(3) Aa’ishah (raa) said about the Prophet: “I swear by Allah! The hand of a woman never touched the hand of Allaah’s Messenger – rather he would take the oath of allegiance from the women verbally.” [Saheeh Muslim (3/1489)]

Dear Muslims,

The reason I quoted the above ayah was not just for this particular issue of 'shaking hands'. Muslims in all parts of the world, and particularly the west have adopted so many Non-Muslim traditions and practices! We have reduced our culture to dating, clubbing, and doing all the supposedly 'free' and 'fun' practices that are totally against the teachings of our Rasool (saw), which were direct commandments from the Almighty Himself! Brothers and sisters, these things are wrong...

WRONG AND HARAM...

We would like to leave you all with something to think about. Please ponder on it and decide for yourselves if this "Carefree Western Culture" is really for you...Please read the following:-

"It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger (saw), have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decision. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger (saw), he has indeed strayed into a plain error."

[33:36]
